The Care4Trauma project aims to improve the access to justice of victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) by strengthening the services for traumatized women provided by victims support organizations, by encouraging the adoption of a trauma informed approach in a larger number of supporting organizations and by enlarging the understanding of the benefit offered by Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) approach.
More precisely, the project aims to increase the capacities of social workers, social educators, lawyers, psychologists and psychiatrists in applying a Trauma-Informed Care approach in the provision of gender-based violence victim support and to promote this initiative in gender-based violence victims support organizations and services in Europe. Moreover, it aims, within the context of mutual learning, to identify and disseminate, good practices and to increase the knowledge on the application of Trauma-Informed Care in the above relevant organizations and services. Furthermore, it aims to enhance the knowledge on the obstacles met by GBV victims in accessing the justice system and to identify organizational and training needs related to this issue and to raise the awareness and knowledge about Trauma-Informed Care related to gender-based violence among relevant stakeholders, policy and decision makers.
The above objectives will be accomplished through the implementation of an cohesive activity plan including i) the collection and the analysis of data by institutional sources aiming to the development of a set of National Assessment Reports and to an overall Policy Recommendations Report, ii) conducting of surveys targeted to personnel directly involved in the provision of services to victims of GBV, social workers and legal professionals, iii) the organization of Consultation Workshops targeted to the personnel of shelters and relevant organizations, iv) conducting of Advocacy Meetings addressed to policy and decision makers and to executives and key personnel of social services, v) capacity building activities (trainings, training of trainers-ToT, seminars for the production and discussion of case studies) addressed to social workers, social educators and lawyers, psychologists and psychiatrists, vi) an effective Dissemination Strategy of Project activities and results (social media campaigns, web page, newsletter, final conference). The above core deliverables will be evaluated by a Scientific Committee of highly qualified experts from all the partners’ countries with different specializations in GBV, trauma-informed care, social research and justice, set up on the purpose of providing valuable feedback and validating the project results.
The Care4Trauma project will address 3 targets groups. The first Target Group represents the core personnel of victim support services and organizations and key professionals involved in the process of supporting the victims in a judicial procedure and it includes social workers, social educators, lawyers, psychologists and psychiatrists. The second Target Group represents a core element for the promotion and the cultural and organizational change for a shared introduction of a trauma-informed methodology and it includes victim support organizations, public victim support services and social services and relevant bodies in law enforcement and the judiciary system. The third Target Group involves policy and decision makers and executives in charge of defining the local, regional and national policies and it includes municipalities, regional and state governments and departments, executives of social services.

Overall Objective:
The Care4Trauma project aims to improve the access to justice of victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) by
● strengthening the services for traumatized women provided by victims support organizations
● encouraging the adoption of a trauma informed approach in a larger number of supporting organizations
● enlarging the understanding of the benefit offered by TIC approach.
Specific Objectives:
1. To increase the capacities of social workers, social educators, lawyers, psychologists and psychiatrists in applying a Trauma-Informed Care approach in the provision of gender-based violence victim support;
2. To promote the application of Trauma-Informed Care in gender-based violence victims support organizations and services in Europe;
3. To identify and disseminate, through mutual learning, good practices and increase the knowledge on the application of Trauma-Informed Care in gender-based violence victim support organization and services in Europe;
4. To increase the knowledge on the obstacles met by GBV victims in accessing the justice system and to identify organizational and training needs related to this issue;
5. To increase the awareness and knowledge about Trauma-Informed Care related to gender-based violence among relevant stakeholders, policy and decision makers.
Target Groups:
Target Group 1: Social workers, social educators, lawyers, psychologists and psychiatrists

Target Group 2: Victim support organizations, public victim support services and social services, other bodies in law enforcement and the judiciary system.
